Politics And Young Adults

Am writing this because I feel like young adults these days don’t care enough about what’s happening around them and to their country. I feel like they don’t realize that the changes that are coming is going to affect them for the rest of their life. That they have the control to dictate their future. I want young adults to realize and wake up to see that doing a little thing such as voting can change the dynamics of a whole country.

I am from England, and I did vote in the last two elections that have occurred. Now the major one that decided if Britain would stay in the EU caused so many problems in the country. It split the country in half. The main thing that stood out for me was the lack of young people voting in the elections. It made me feel embarrassed really as part of being a young adult. One of the biggest decisions in Britons history was decided by old people. Now no disrespect to old people but there not going to be the ones with the after effects of the decision they decided. Most old people voted to leave the EU. That made me angry because their decision was the majority, due to the fact they did such a simple thing of voting. Most young people wanted to stay in the EU, but the idea of “oh my vote won’t count because its only one vote” is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. The difference in votes in the EU elections was not a big margin at all. Young adults left the decision to the old people who won’t be around much longer. I voted to stay. Due to the simple fact that I don’t believe in dividing people and places. At the end of the day we are all human and we all deserve the right to be able to get the best. We should be fighting as a human race, not as bickering child over who get what.

The power of young people showed in the last elections. Jeremy Corbyn went after the young audience and believed in them and made sure they voted. He made such a surge in power no one has seen for a long time. No matter how much the media bashed him down he preached on twitter. He showed the young audience what they were missing. The power showed when Labour party was winning seats by the smallest of margins. When I say small I mean 3 or 4 people. That was the effect of the young people. But I believe there is more to it there is more power there can be taken by the young people. More than anything it’s the young people that suffer the most out of everyone. The simple thing of tuition fees has caused such a storm. The average university student leaves university with about £30,000 debt. That’s probably the lowest for me its way over £60,000. My sister was £9,000. That has just shown us that these times more than anytime, is the time that young people need to step up. They need to take responsibility for their future in their country.

This has been more of a rant than anything else. But I just wanted to show people and show the young adults that they’re the ones in control of their future and there the dominating force communities. There the driving force of the country and nothing can hold them back expect themselves.
